We’re seeking passionate baristas to join our opening team at Proper Fare at South Station Tower Boston delivering high-quality beverages and food while providing friendly, efficient, and consistent excellent service. If you have successfully worked in cafes, share our passion for food, coffee, music, and design, and can deliver contagious hospitality to guests and staff alike, then we would like to talk to you.

Summary of Position:

The barista role focuses on preparing coffee, espresso drinks, and café items to Episcope recipe standards while maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for guests. Attention to detail, speed, and a commitment to quality and food safety are essential.

This position supports opening and closing duties, restocking, and maintaining café cleanliness throughout the shift. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic, guest-first environment and takes pride in delivering great service and great coffee every time.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, specialty drinks, and food items according to store recipes and company quality standards

Possess full knowledge of menu and vendors that we feature. Uphold product quality and presentation standards

Learn our guests and practice recognition of our regular guests and VIPs

Provide friendly, attentive, and professional customer service at all times

Accurately take customer orders, process payments, and handle cash & gift cards.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and guest areas throughout each shift

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures in compliance with company standards

Restock ingredients, supplies, and retail items as needed using good judgement based on business levels

Communicate effectively with team members

Assist with opening, mid, and closing duties, including setup, breakdown, and cleaning tasks

Support team goals by maintaining punctuality, reliability, and a positive attitude

Participate in a culture of innovation by contributing ideas for house and seasonal coffee and tea beverages

Adhere to all Episcope company policies, procedures, and service standards

Qualifications:

Must have exceptional grooming habits.

Comfortable working early morning hours is a must.

At least one year of past Barista experience.

Have working knowledge of traditional espresso beverages.

Possess basic math skills and can handle money and operate a point of sales system.

Basic knowledge of commercial espresso machines and coffee makers.

Works quickly and efficiently.

Works well both independently and as a team member.

Responsible and reliable.

Outgoing friendly personality

Ability to work well under pressure.

Excellent multi-tasking and attention to detail

Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)

Able to lift 50 lbs

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($16.00) plus tips
