Registered Nurse – Oncology Clinic
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology Clinic
Job Type: 13 weeks Contract with possible extension
Schedule: 8.30am to 5.00pm, Day Shift (Monday–Friday, 5x8-hour shifts)
Pay: $55/hr to $58/hr
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Oncology Registered Nurse to join a busy outpatient oncology clinic. The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care to oncology patients across pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. This role requires strong clinical assessment skills, chemotherapy knowledge, patient education expertise, and the ability to coordinate care in a fast-paced ambulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and implement appropriate interventions.
- Coordinate and maintain efficient clinic workflow while ensuring continuity of care.
- Conduct telephone triage for oncology patients and provide clinical guidance.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, chemotherapy, surgery, stem cell transplant, CAR-T therapy, and potential treatment side effects.
- Administer chemotherapy, including intramuscular, subcutaneous, oral, and continuous infusion therapies.
- Monitor patients receiving chemotherapy and manage treatment-related symptoms.
- Access, de-access, troubleshoot, and maintain implanted vascular access devices and ports.
- Administer blood products and IV therapies.
- Provide central line and implanted line care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Assist with minor in-office procedures and post-operative patient follow-up as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum 2 years of ambulatory oncology nursing experience.
- Strong oncology and chemotherapy knowledge.
- Current BLS certification.
- Experience with:
- Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- IV therapy and infusions
- Blood product administration
- Central line and port management
- Telephone triage
- Patient education
Preferred Qualifications
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) chemotherapy certification.
- Teaching hospital experience.
- Trauma Level I experience.
- Hepatobiliary and surgical oncology experience.
- Previous experience with stem cell transplant, CAR-T therapy, and hematology-oncology patients.
