Position Purpose

This position is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations through the safe and efficient movement, storage, and replenishment of materials. The Material Handler will perform activities related to shipping, receiving, inventory control, and line-side support within a heavy-duty manufacturing environment. Please note, this is not a forklift driving position.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities

  • Load and unload trucks, containers, and materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment
  • Transport and stage materials to support fabrication and assembly production lines
  • Verify incoming materials and input receiving transactions into SAP or applicable systems
  • Ensure proper storage, labelling, and organization of inventory in designated areas
  • Replenish materials to production lines to maintain continuous workflow
  • Break down packaging materials using hand tools and properly dispose of waste
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas (5S standards)
  • Remove debris and maintain safe conditions within and around the facility
  • Apply continuous improvement (CI) tools and participate in process improvement initiatives
  • Assist in identifying and resolving material flow, inventory, and quality issues
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and PPE requirements
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating forklifts or working in inventory/material handling
  • Must pass any drug screens, background checks, and any pre-employment tests, which will be conducted in accordance with applicable law.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in material handling, inventory control, or forklift operation
  • Experience in a heavy equipment or manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies

  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, tugs, or material handling equipment (or ability to learn)
  • Basic proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and inventory systems (SAP preferred)
  • Ability to use hand tools and pneumatic tools as required
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime or varying schedules as needed
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull materials and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
