Commercial HVAC Service Technician

Location: Columbia, SC

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay Range: $25.00–$38.00/hour (DOE)

We're looking for an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our growing service team in Columbia, SC. This position is ideal for a skilled technician who enjoys troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex commercial HVAC systems while delivering outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment, including:

  • DX systems up to 100 tons
  • Packaged water-cooled air conditioning units up to 150 tons
  • Water-source heat pumps
  • Computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units with humidifiers and controls
  • Gas-fired and electric heating systems up to 150 tons
  • Pneumatic, electronic, and DDC control systems
  • Air handling units and VAV systems

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Perform equipment startups and verify proper system operation
  • Monitor system performance by reading gauges, controls, and instrumentation
  • Adjust valves, pumps, and controls to optimize system efficiency
  • Diagnose equipment failures and repair or replace defective components
  • Perform preventative maintenance including:
  • Cleaning condenser and evaporator coils
  • Replacing fan belts
  • Cleaning ductwork
  • Install electrical wiring and connect HVAC components
  • Complete startup services for newly installed equipment
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate job status with dispatch throughout the day
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a professional appearance and clean work environment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or trade school certification
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (Required)
  • Minimum 4 years of commercial HVAC service experience
  • Strong troubleshooting skills on commercial HVAC equipment and controls
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service
  • Commitment to workplace safety and defensive driving practices
