JOB SUMMARY

Join the team at the Anchorage Animal Care & Control Center (AACC) and help support daily operations while making a positive impact on animals and the community.

In this role, you will provide front desk and administrative support, assisting with animal intake, adoptions, and customer service.

  • Greet and assist the public in person and over the phone
  • Support animal intake, redemption, and adoption processes
  • Perform clerical and data entry tasks

Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1 year customer service experience
  • Minimum 6 months cash handling experience
  • Minimum 6 months office/front desk experience
  • Strong computer and communication skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
  • Reliable smartphone for scheduling and communication
  • Must pass background check, drug screen, and physical evaluation

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with animals or in an animal-related organization
  • Basic knowledge of pet care
  • Typing speed of 35+ WPM

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet customers and determine service needs (front counter and phone)
  • Provide information on:
  • Animal care and ownership
  • Adoptions, redemptions, and lost/found animals
  • AACC policies and municipal regulations
  • Assist with animal handling (leashing dogs, placing cats in carriers)
  • Process payments for services, fees, and donations
  • Maintain accurate records and balance daily cash transactions
  • Enter and manage data in the Chameleon system
  • Complete opening and closing procedures

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The majority of the work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities. The work requires interaction with the public.
