Overview

RapidAir Heating & Cooling is seeking a full-time HVAC Technician / Journeyman HVAC Technician to join our growing service team.

We are looking for dependable technicians with HVAC experience who are either already journeyman-qualified or able to become qualified within 30 days. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, communicates professionally with customers, and wants to be part of a company with consistent workflow, competitive pay, built-in bonus opportunities, and strong support from the office team.

RapidAir Heating & Cooling is a veteran-owned company serving the Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads area. We are expanding a professional HVAC service team focused on dependable service, efficient systems, and long-term customer relationships. Our technicians are valued members of the company, and we provide accessible back-office support for scheduling, customer communication, job coordination, documentation, and field service needs.

Technicians will use Housecall Pro for scheduling, estimates, invoicing, service notes, and job management. Housecall Pro experience is preferred, but not required. Training will be provided.

Responsibilities

As an HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing residential HVAC systems
  • Performing heating, cooling, ventilation, maintenance, and system repair services
  • Inspecting systems to identify issues affecting comfort, safety, performance, and efficiency
  • Completing maintenance, tune-ups, repairs, replacements, and related service work
  • Reading and interpreting basic HVAC schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation
  • Performing electrical diagnostics using appropriate tools and safe troubleshooting practices
  • Identifying failed components, airflow issues, refrigerant concerns, electrical faults, thermostat problems, and other common HVAC system failures
  • Recommending appropriate repairs, upgrades, maintenance agreements, or replacement options when beneficial to the customer
  • Handling refrigerants in compliance with EPA requirements and applicable law
  • Completing job notes, estimates, invoices, photos, customer updates, and other required documentation through Housecall Pro
  • Communicating professionally with customers while on-site
  • Coordinating with the back-office team regarding schedules, job updates, parts needs, customer follow-ups, and service issues
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and professional work area
  • Protecting customer property and representing the company professionally in the field
  • Maintaining quality workmanship and working to minimize callbacks
  • Following company procedures for safety, documentation, customer service, and job completion
  • Traveling to service calls throughout the Virginia Beach / Hampton Roads area

Requirements

Qualified candidates must have:

  • Prior HVAC field experience
  • Journeyman HVAC qualification, or ability to become qualified within 30 days
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work full-time
  • Basic HVAC tools and working knowledge needed to perform service work
  • Ability to diagnose and repair common residential HVAC issues
  • Working knowledge of heating, cooling, ventilation, electrical, and mechanical system components
  • Ability to use a phone, tablet, or field service app for job documentation
  • Professional communication skills with customers, office staff, and team members
  • Dependability, punctuality, and strong follow-through
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in the field while staying connected with the office team
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment screening, including background check if required

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not required:

  • Current HVAC Journeyman license or equivalent qualification
  • EPA certification for refrigerant handling
  • Housecall Pro experience
  • Mini-Split Install/Servicing experience
  • Residential HVAC service experience
  • Experience with system diagnostics, repair recommendations, maintenance agreements, and equipment replacement recommendations
  • Experience completing digital invoices, estimates, service notes, and customer communication through a field service platform
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting ability
  • Experience with heat pumps, split systems, mini-splits, furnaces, air handlers, condensers, thermostats, and related residential HVAC equipment
  • Clean driving record

Pay: $25.00 - $30.83 per hour
