The Competitive & Strategic Insights (CSI) Director drives insights at a global level (with a US focus) for pre-clinical to early clinical Immunology assets, providing an objective view of the competitive landscape and emerging trends. This individual will be a strategic partner to the asset strategy teams and influence the overall development of the assets or key mechanisms of interest.
Responsibilities include informing the clinical target product profile, supporting go/no go decisions, tracking safety & efficacy data of competitors, assessing evolution of the standard of care, understanding clinical timelines and competitor status. The CSI team supports key governance decisions at asset milestones and partners with BD and S&E. The individual in this role will have high visibility and opportunities to influence key decisions to support AbbVie’ Immunology pipeline.
Responsibilities:
Scientific expertise for ease in informing and aligning with clinical and discovery scientists as this role will include evaluation of early development targets, trends and assets
Develop R&D CI and generate insights across key Immunology indications (Ovarian, Gastric & HNSCC) as well as emerging MOAs (next-gen-IO, CCR8, etc.)
Rapidly develop functional expertise in new disease-areas and technologies as priorities shift
Drive and execute the CI plan to embed research and clinical insights across the portfolio of assets; ensure the CI plan is supported by robust methodology and delivered in a timely manner
Be an influential voice regarding R&D/BD CI within the organization; advise senior management on CI topics and implications for AbbVie
Create strategic partnerships with internal CI beneficiaries and resources (R&D leadership, TASCs, ASTs, Global Medical Affairs, Discovery Research, Development, Search & Evaluation, Business Development & Acquisitions, PCS, IMABI and APEX)
Communicate competitive intelligence in a timely and actionable manner, including implications, in a succinct manner
Advance and coordinate standard CI deliverables (conference coverage, alerts, landscapes, etc.) across the CI team; ensure consistency and create synergies across AbbVie assets by maintaining the same framework for key deliverables
Develop and maintain a repository of clinical knowledge for each area of interest that will become a reference set of documents (e.g., on SharePoint) to develop strategies
Act as a CI expert, demonstrating awareness and understanding of appropriate CI applications and key internal and external data/information sources
Bring innovative methodologies and approaches into the organization
Build and maintain required CI tools and platforms to enable process efficiency, ease of access and content management
Effectively deliver against competing priorities in time-sensitive environment
Manage CI vendors, as necessary
Operate Competitive Intelligence within AbbVie SOPs and CI policy and highest standard of professional conduct
Bachelor’s Degree health/life sciences required; Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD) in Life Sciences/Medicine is preferred
7-9 years of experience in Pharma/Biotech with 3-5+ years of experience CI or market research in Pharma/Biotech pipeline assets; Immunology clinical development/regulatory experience preferred
Expertise with broad range of CI methodologies (preferred)
Experience in US (required) and multiple regions (preferred)
Superior analytical skills are required with an understanding of R&D
Proficiency with global and regional CI vendors necessary to assess clinical status and end to end overall strategy of competitive assets required
Strong oral, facilitation, and written communication skills; ability to distill complex information synthesized into concise and impactful messages and communications; PPT proficiency
Ability to interact effectively with/present to all levels of the organization; Stakeholder management and executive presence
Demonstrated ability to leverage and develop tech-enabled CI solutions
This opportunity is a hybrid role requiring at least three (3) days onsite in our North Chicago, IL offices.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position.
