Position Overview
The Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining low-voltage and integrated systems installed by Region 6. This includes access control, video surveillance, A/V, networking, and electrical-related systems in completed commercial and multifamily properties. Unlike installation technicians, Service Technicians work exclusively on post-installation systems. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a customer-oriented approach to ensure long-term functionality and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
System Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose and resolve issues in existing access control, security, surveillance, networking, and A/V systems
- Perform repairs and adjustments on devices, cabling, and configurations
- Replace hardware components, rewire connections, or reconfigure software as needed
- Update firmware and conduct device resets when required
Field Service Execution
- Respond to service tickets promptly and professionally
- Communicate findings and next steps to internal teams and clients
- Coordinate warranty and RMA processing as needed
- Maintain proper documentation of service actions in CRM and ticketing systems
Preventative Maintenance & Inspection
- Perform periodic inspections on Region 6-installed systems to ensure long-term performance
- Clean, test, and validate all critical system components
- Identify potential issues proactively and recommend updates or repairs
Client Interaction & Onsite Professionalism
- Provide technical support to clients during service visits
- Ensure excellent communication and follow-up to close out service events
- Represent Region 6 professionally onsite, maintaining high customer satisfaction
- Communicate scheduling delays, recommendations, or unresolved issues back to the support team
Compliance & Safety
- Follow all job site safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Ensure work complies with building codes, NEC and company standards
- Maintain safe driving habits when traveling to and from hob sites in company vehicle
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service calls
- Attend regular team meetings and training
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in low-voltage service or technical troubleshooting
- Active Washington State 06 license required
- Experience with systems such as Brivo, Eagle Eye, Avigilon, Meraki, and similar platforms strongly preferred
- Valid WA State Driver’s License and clean driving record
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Capable of working independently and solving technical problems in the field
- Proficient in low-voltage systems diagnostics and repair
- Strong working knowledge of access control, IP video, A/V integration, and basic networking
- Comfortable using mobile devices, diagnostic tools, and service apps
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and task ownership
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Working Environment
This role operates primarily in the field servicing completed properties. technician reports daily to the Seattle Warehouse and travels to client locations in a company-provided vehicle. Environments include commercial and multifamily buildings, mechanical rooms, rooftops, and occupied facilities. Service Technicians may work both indoors and outdoors depending on the nature of the issue.
