Trailer Diesel Mechanics are responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment such as trucks, buses, and heavy machinery. They ensure all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication
- Repair or replace engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and hydraulic components
- Conduct inspections to ensure vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards
- Troubleshoot fuel, exhaust, and emissions systems
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
- Test drive vehicles to verify repairs and performance
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy equipment systems
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and hand/power tools
- Understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy components
- High school diploma or GED (technical certification preferred)
- ASE certification (a plus)
Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
