Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108 bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and we bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for a Admissions RN position.

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Admissions Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team during the evening shift. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, including critical care, trauma, and emergency medicine experience, to provide exceptional patient assessment and admission services. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic healthcare environment by ensuring seamless patient intake processes, accurate medical record management, and comprehensive discharge planning. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient-centered care, compliance with health regulations, and effective communication within multidisciplinary teams.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments upon admission, including vital signs, medical history review, and physiological evaluation.
  • Manage electronic health records (EHR) efficiently to ensure accurate documentation of patient information and medical records.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers to facilitate diagnostic evaluations and develop individualized care plans.
  • Coordinate discharge planning by assessing patient needs, providing education, and ensuring compliance with post-acute care instructions.
  • Monitor patients' condition continuously, utilizing critical care skills in high-acuity settings such as ICU or trauma centers when necessary.
  • Assist in managing patients across various specialties including hospital medicine, behavioral health, geriatrics, pediatrics, and post-acute care environments.
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and hospital policies to maintain patient confidentiality and data security.
  • Participate in utilization management and case management activities to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license with current registration in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Extensive ICU experience with proficiency in managing critically ill patients in high-acuity settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers.
  • Demonstrated expertise in emergency room procedures, infectious disease care, and medical-surgical nursing.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital medicine practices, health regulation policies, and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Experience in managing patients with complex needs including behavioral health, geriatrics, pediatrics, or post-acute care populations.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, physiology knowledge, vital signs monitoring, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and deliver high-quality patient service with compassion and professionalism.
  • Familiarity with managed care processes, discharge planning protocols, utilization management strategies, and inpatient/outpatient workflows.
