Job Title: 3rd Shift TIG Welder – Fabrication (Fab A)
Job Description
This role combines precision TIG welding with hands-on fabrication in a modern, high-end manufacturing environment. You will weld and finish stainless steel components, operate advanced grinding and polishing equipment, and ensure that all parts meet strict quality and accuracy standards. This is a 3rd shift position in a large, clean, climate-controlled facility focused on producing premium stainless steel kitchen appliances.
Responsibilities
- Perform TIG welding and finishing on stainless steel and other materials, including 20-gauge stainless steel components.
- Operate Kuhlmeyer grinding and polishing machines in auto, semi-auto, and manual modes to achieve specified finishes.
- Select the appropriate software program for each part and make software modifications as necessary to run specific parts on the machines.
- Complete machine and workstation setup tasks at the start of the shift, including obtaining and installing proper fixtures and tooling.
- Visually inspect welded and fabricated parts for accuracy, quality, and defects, and take corrective action when needed.
- Measure parts using tools such as micrometers, calipers, and tape measures to verify dimensions against blueprints.
- Read and interpret blueprints to understand part specifications, tolerances, and weld requirements.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks on assigned machines and equipment to ensure reliable operation.
- Operate press brake and punch press equipment as needed to support fabrication work.
- Collaborate with 2–3 other team members in a pod environment, each operating their own machine while maintaining coordinated workflow.
- Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and production guidelines throughout the shift.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area within the fabrication department.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of TIG welding experience on stainless steel.
- At least 1 year of experience running a press, such as press brake or punch press.
- Proficiency in TIG welding on thin-gauge materials, including 20-gauge stainless steel.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
- Skilled in using precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.
- Experience with general metal fabrication and welding in a production environment.
- Capability to operate and adjust automated, semi-automated, and manual grinding and polishing machines.
- Strong attention to detail for visual inspection and dimensional verification of parts.
- Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance on fabrication and welding equipment.
- Comfort working on 3rd shift with regular overtime.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a large fabrication department or high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with Kuhlmeyer or similar grinding and polishing equipment.
- Ability to make minor software adjustments to machine programs for specific parts.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills in a production setting.
- Willingness to cross-train and advance into areas such as welding, maintenance, machining, or tooling.
- Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in premium stainless steel products.

Work Environment
This is a 3rd shift position running from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Sunday night through Friday morning, with an expectation of approximately 5–10 hours of overtime. The role is based in a huge, modern fabrication facility with over 300 people in the fabrication department across three shifts. The shop is climate controlled, exceptionally clean, and considered one of the nicest facilities in Wisconsin. Employees have access to an onsite health clinic, a great break room, and a workout facility. You will work in a pod alongside 2–3 other employees, each operating their own machine, in a collaborative yet focused production environment. The facility is equipped with advanced machinery and is dedicated to producing high-end stainless steel kitchen appliances while maintaining a well-kept and efficient workspace.

This is a Contract position based out of Madison, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
