Santa Monica Seafood, an 80-year-old privately owned company, is the largest specialty wholesale distribution and processor of fresh and frozen seafood in the Southwestern U.S. With over 200,000 square feet of facilities in 12 locations throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas, we also operate two retail stores and cafés in Santa Monica and Costa Mesa. We were the first and remain the only seafood company in the United States to achieve FSSC 22000 certification for food safety management systems, ISO 14001 certification for environmental management programs, and BAP certification of our main processing facility.
The Freezer Stocker must self‑motivate, work independently and as part of a team, stock, palletize, arrange seafood product, and maintain and replenish stock in a safe, efficient manner. Other miscellaneous duties may be assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
- Learn and memorize the location of the product.
- Examine stock for damaged product and designate an appropriate area.
- Stock shelves, set up, and take down repetitive work as required.
- Conduct visual inspections of the product being placed on shelves.
- Organize and maneuver storage of all product.
- Perform physical activities such as lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Operate a stand‑up forklift or perform other duties not requiring a forklift.
- Safely operate equipment and work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Keep aisles clear of debris.
- Perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.
- Must be flexible, dependable, and reliable; maintain prompt and regular attendance.
- Work 6–10 hours per day in the freezer department.
- Must work in a cold environment (freezer temperatures below 0°F).
- Freezer equipment and suits will be provided by the company.
Sunday–Friday, with Saturdays off and one other mandatory day during the week (shift 7 pm–3:30 am).
