The Senior Software Engineer / Architect will contribute to the strategic direction of the University's financial management systems, with a primary responsibility supporting the enterprise Oracle EBS and EPM environments.

This position will report to the Director of Administrative Systems, as a part of the university central IT unit, HUIT.

Lead comprehensive applications/web development for highly complex projects; typically work as part of a team to implement complex business solutions. Deliver strategic and expert coding; focus on overarching development strategy for a large, complex, multi-faceted application. May manage a number of projects simultaneously.

Job-Specific Responsibilities:

Participate fully in software development life cycle

Lead development of technical solutions to deliver business requirements

Participate in long term strategic planning for the application portfolio(s)

Establish and maintain internal/external stakeholder relationships

Abide by and follow the Harvard University IT technical standards, policies and Code of Conduct

Develop using Oracle PL/SQL, shell scripting and Groovy

Extend Amazon infrastructure using Python, AWS ECS, AWS Secrets Manager and Docker containers

Oracle APEX, BI Publisher, Oracle SQL*Plus, SQL Loader

Leverage GIT and SPLUNK

Develop and support APIGEE solutions and restful services

Support and develop extensions to Oracle EBS and EPM PBCS

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications are the minimum threshold a candidate must meet in order to be considered for this role.

Minimum of seven years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

Knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software and equipment

Highly specialized knowledge of a specific technology

Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor

Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA standards for web accessibility

Certificates and Licenses:

Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred

Working Conditions: Onsite work is performed in an office setting.

Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week

This is a hybrid position and travel to the campus may be required for important project events with advance notice.

Work Format Details

This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts . Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
