Position Title: CNC Machinist
Department: Manufacturing / Production
Reports To: Production Manufacturing Manager
Position Summary
The CNC Machinist is responsible for the setup, operation, monitoring, and production of quality parts utilizing CNC machining equipment. This position operates a variety of CNC machinery, including Haas and Mazak equipment, while maintaining production schedules, quality standards, and safe work practices. Experience with special tooling, fixture setups, and production manufacturing environments is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machining centers, including Haas and Mazak equipment.
- Produce parts according to engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and production schedules.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished components.
- Perform machine adjustments and tool offsets as necessary to maintain part quality and production efficiency.
- Select, install, and maintain cutting tools, fixtures, and special tooling required for production.
- Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring instruments.
- Monitor machine performance and identify issues affecting quality, productivity, or equipment reliability.
- Maintain accurate production records and report production status to supervisors.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and manufacturing procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, maintenance personnel, and fellow team members.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
- Support cross-training efforts and assist in other manufacturing areas as needed.
- Perform other duties and special assignments assigned by management.
Qualifications
Preferred
- Previous CNC machining experience in a production manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating Haas and Mazak CNC machines.
- Experience with machine setups, tooling selection, and fixture changes.
- Familiarity with special tooling and production optimization techniques.
- Understanding of machining practices, cutting speeds, feeds, and tool life management.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to safely operate machinery and material handling equipment.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
