Pharmacy Technician - $18 - $21.5 per hour

  • In line with state and federal laws, assist pharmacists directly in practicing pharmacy, under their guidance. Support pharmacists in other duties of the Pharmacy Department, following Company guidelines and procedures.
  • Use pharmacy systems to gather patient and drug details and handle prescriptions. With PTCB certification, assist and guide pharmacy techs in system operations and cashiers in handling pharmacy cash registers.
  • Create and provide an exceptional and pleasant customer experience.

Customer Engagement

  • Approach customers and patients by greeting them and offering help with products and services. Address customer concerns and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
  • Share and model best practices of customer service with all team members to ensure a great customer experience, including positive interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and service traits (e.g., offering help, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
  • Build strong relationships with key customers.

Operational Duties

  • Assist pharmacists in practicing pharmacy, under supervision, following state, federal, and company regulations. Adhere to the Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Perform tasks assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, such as using pharmacy systems to input patient and drug information accurately, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medicines, verifying correctness, and checking for interactions. Assist in planning and maintaining workflow.
  • Report prescription errors to the on-duty pharmacist immediately and follow policies and procedures about pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Strictly follow the company's policy on Good Faith Dispensing for all prescription dispensing activities.
  • Responsible for registering related sales on assigned cash register, handling cash as needed. Guide customers to OTC aisle to locate products.
  • Handle phone calls that don't need the pharmacist's attention, including calls to physicians.
  • Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third-party prescription services timely and efficiently and perform other clerical duties as per Pharmacy Manager’s direction.
  • Support the Pharmacy Department in managing inventory activities, like ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments. Stay informed of asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages (items received but not billed), shortages (items billed but not received), order errors, or damaged products involving Rx drugs.
  • Assist the pharmacist in administering clinical services like collecting and labeling patient blood/urine samples and coordinating clinical services, healthcare clinics, and external providers.
  • Help Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in building and maintaining strong relations with the local medical community and healthcare providers through medical detailing and outreach to health groups and forums.
  • Assist in keeping the Pharmacy Department stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Follow all company guidelines and maintain respectful coworker relations.
  • Complete special assignments and additional tasks as provided.

Training & Personal Development

  • Obtain and keep PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or required state certification/registration. Otherwise, certification becomes a promotion condition to senior technician.
  • Attend training, complete Manager-requested PPLs, and gain continuing education credits. Keep informed and skilled in healthcare and pharmacy news and advancements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be proficient in English for reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six months of retail experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience with the company is favored.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting and measuring medications, are preferred.
  • Preferable to have strong computer skills.
  • Understanding of store inventory management is desirable.
  • PTCB certification is favored.
