Job Description
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Academic Advisor, Lee Business School [R0151566].
ROLE of the POSITION
As an academic advisor in UNLV’s Lee Business School Undergraduate Advising office, this individual is part of a team of professionals who work in support of the college’s and university’s missions. An essential part of this is to provide information and guidance to students to assist them in defining and achieving their educational and life goals while adhering to university and college academic requirements and standards.
The advisor will participate in student-related interactions from recruitment through graduation. These activities may include, but are not limited to:
- Participating in recruiting events;
- Providing academic guidance to students via appointments, e-mail, presentations, information sessions;
- Providing students with resource referrals to other campus offices as needed;
- Creating, editing, and disseminating information for handouts, web site, catalog, etc.;
- Reviewing and processing paperwork students submit for review;
- Maintaining relationships with colleagues on campus and at other Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institutions;
- Maintaining relationships with the college’s department chairs and faculty;
- As needed, serve as an informational resource to the college’s deans, department chairs, faculty and staff regarding academic policies and administrative procedures;
- Participate in UNLV’s Academic Advising Council

Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and one year of related professional experience.
Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree and 1-3 years of academic advising experience.
