A leading advanced manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead Engineering, Reliability, and Maintenance operations within a high-volume 24/7 manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this role is responsible for driving plant reliability, operational efficiency, capital project execution, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and facility operations.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience in engineering and maintenance management within a fast-paced industrial manufacturing setting, along with a proven track record of improving equipment reliability, supporting plant operations, and leading cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Engineering, Reliability, and Maintenance functions in a 24/7 manufacturing operation
Manage and develop engineering, reliability, and maintenance teams, including direct leadership of managers and engineers
Partner closely with Operations, Quality, EH&S, and Supply Chain teams to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives
Drive continuous improvement initiatives including Gemba walks, 5S, Kaizen, and operational excellence programs
Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs while tracking key performance metrics
Lead capital investment projects, facility upgrades, equipment installations, and expansion initiatives
Ensure smooth transition of projects from installation and commissioning into full production operations
Establish and maintain relationships with third-party vendors, contractors, and service providers
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, NEC, and all applicable regulatory standards
Manage departmental budgets and capital expenditures
Support technical training and professional development programs for engineering and maintenance teams
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline required
Minimum 10 years of engineering and manufacturing experience within a 24/7 industrial environment
Previous leadership experience managing engineering, maintenance, or reliability teams
Strong project management experience supporting capital projects and manufacturing improvements
Experience with preventive maintenance systems and CMMS platforms required
Knowledge of industrial utility systems, including:
Boilers
Compressors
Chillers
Cooling Towers
HVAC Systems
Heat Exchangers
Pollution Control Equipment
Experience in web converting, paper/pulp converting, packaging, or other high-speed manufacturing environments preferred
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks experience preferred
Additional Requirements
Ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation, including occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities
Limited travel required, including occasional international travel
Ability to complete required safety and HazWoper training
Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing environment
Combination of office and production floor responsibilities
Exposure to manufacturing equipment, noise, and industrial systems
Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) while on the production floor
