This role focuses on high-volume mechanical assembly work for a military and defense production facility in Santa Ana, CA, on a 2nd shift schedule. You will perform repetitive, precision mechanical and electronic assemblies in a fast-paced environment with a goal of producing up to 5,000 units per month. The position offers overtime opportunities and the potential to relocate to an Ohio site at the end of the year, with strong prospects for long-term growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repetitive mechanical assemblies in a high-paced production environment, meeting daily and monthly output targets such as 5,000 units per month for the team.
  • Assemble high quality mechanical assemblies, wire harnesses, test racks, junction boxes, and associated components using hand tools, power tools, and soldering equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to accurately perform assembly tasks and follow detailed work instructions.
  • Use common hand and power tools, including pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, depth micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, pressure gauges, multimeters, test boxes, and other specialized test equipment to complete assemblies and adjustments.
  • Perform inspection of assembled components to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications, identifying and correcting defects as needed.
  • Conduct validation and testing of various electronic components using equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and test racks.
  • Assemble and work with RF systems, including testing and running RF-related components and subsystems.
  • Apply common air-frame construction techniques, including installing rivets, mechanical fasteners, nut plates, and similar hardware where required.
  • Perform electronic box assembly, including troubleshooting issues and writing detailed issue tickets for failures and nonconformances.
  • Run functional checkouts and tests on assemblies and systems, diagnosing issues discovered during these processes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot extensively at the mechanical, electronic, and PCBA levels to resolve problems and improve product performance.

  • Experience using multimeters, test boxes, and specialized test equipment for assembly, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics and follow detailed assembly instructions accurately.
  • Working knowledge of common electrical components and their functions within assemblies and systems.
  • Proficiency with computer use, including standard web browsers and word processing applications, for documentation and communication.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with engineering and production personnel.
  • Ability to rapidly change roles and responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment.
  • Comfort with repetitive mechanical assembly work in a high-volume production setting.
  • Availability and willingness to work 2nd shift (approximately 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm) and to support overtime and weekend shifts as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to wear steel toe or composite toe shoes or boots as required safety equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience mechanically assembling repetitive mechanical assemblies, high quality wire harnesses, test racks, junction boxes, and associated components involving hand soldering and component fabrication.
