Duties
- Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgeries, ensuring all procedures are performed with precision and care
- Perform animal restraint and handling using gentle techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff
- Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and interpret results to aid in accurate diagnoses
- Maintain aseptic technique during procedures to prevent infection and ensure a sterile environment
- Manage pet care routines including feeding, grooming, and administering medications as directed
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning and oral assessments
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines, ensuring high-quality imaging for accurate diagnosis
- Handle animal catheterization, injections, and other critical care procedures with skill and confidence
- Assist with animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health status
Skills
- Proven kennel experience with animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology
- Hands-on veterinary technician experience with skills in animal catheterization, restraint, and laboratory procedures
- Knowledge of dental terminology and pet grooming techniques to support oral health initiatives
- Experience in veterinary critical care environments requiring quick thinking and precise actions
- Familiarity with X-ray operation, aseptic techniques, and laboratory testing protocols
- Excellent dog handling skills along with animal husbandry expertise to promote comfort and safety during treatments
- Ability to train dogs in basic commands or behavior modification when needed for medical procedures
- Demonstrated commitment to pet care and animal welfare through compassionate handling and attentive observation
