Job Title: Medical Assembler / R&D Catheter Assembler

All Shifts Available

$23/HR- $25/HR

Job Description

This role supports research and development activities by assembling catheters and related medical device subassemblies in a clean room environment. You will work extensively under a microscope, use small hand tools and specialized equipment, perform visual inspections, and complete final packaging of products. The position involves short-run builds, braiding, operating laser machines, working on extrusion lines, and documenting all work to meet strict quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble catheters and other medical device subassemblies in an R&D setting using small hand tools and microscopes.
  • Perform short-run builds, including braiding operations and work on extrusion lines, according to established processes and procedures.
  • Operate laser machines and other necessary assembly equipment to build and inspect your own assemblies.
  • Work as part of a team to assemble parts and collaborate effectively with group members and cross-functional partners.
  • Sort and place materials or items on tables, racks, or bins to support efficient workflow.
  • Assemble small parts manually under a microscope, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Clean assembled parts and place them into protective bags or boxes to maintain product integrity.
  • Package assembled parts according to documented procedures and quality standards.
  • Pick up, move, and sort small parts as needed to support production activities.
  • Verify raw materials and lot numbers to ensure traceability and compliance with documentation requirements.
  • Build products by following all documented processes, completing assigned work, and meeting manufacturing goals and metrics.
  • Rotate through various tasks as necessary and maintain flexibility to support team and production needs.
  • Maintain accurate records, including training records and all required production and quality paperwork.
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions promptly to supervision for resolution.
  • Follow and adhere to all safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.
  • Communicate the status of operations in a timely manner to management, including any safety, quality, or process issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with clean room and facility standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management to support production and R&D objectives.

Essential Skills

  • 2–3 years of experience in medical device manufacturing, specifically building catheters or operating braiding and extrusion machines.
  • Previous experience performing visual inspections in a manufacturing or clean room environment.
  • Hands-on experience operating assembly equipment such as microscopes, laser machines, and small hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately and consistently under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and productively with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to guide assembly and inspection activities.
  • Willingness and ability to work under a microscope for extended periods throughout the day.
  • Comfort working in a clean room environment with strict gowning and contamination control requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with catheter assembly, catheter building, or catheter manufacturing in a clean room setting.
  • Familiarity with clean room assembly practices, including the use of smocks, masks, gloves, hair nets, and other protective attire.
  • Experience with microscope-based assembly and inspection for small, intricate components.
  • Ability to follow detailed written procedures and standard operating instructions with high compliance.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively report issues and collaborate with team members and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated reliability and consistency in meeting production goals and quality metrics.
  • Openness to ongoing training and development to learn new processes and equipment.
