POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs routine lab tests on greige, raw materials, chemicals and finished products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Follows all plant safety policies and rules and exercises good judgement in safety related matters

2. Knows where to find and how to use an SDS.

3. Abides by and enforces all company and plant polices.

4. Maintains a good attendance record.

5. Must be able to read, understand, Lab Standard Testing Procedures, ISO Procedures, and Product Specifications.

6. Performs basic math calculations, fills out testing forms, and charts data.

7. Must be able to work with and understand different testing units. (English, Metric)

8. Read ruler/tape measure (in inches/fractions of inches, and centimeters/millimeters)

9. Lays out and cuts sample specimens

10. Utilizes lab equipment to perform specified test on samples. Must be able to read, understand, and use Instrumentation Computer Software to perform testing.

11. Able to anticipate when the data/product is trending towards a failure.

12. Calibrates equipment as defined by lab procedures.

13. Reports any equipment malfunction to QC Lab Manager or to the Maintenance Department in supervisor’s absence.

14. Computer data entry. (Business system and spreadsheets)

15. Able to communicate well with others in lab and outside the lab about the testing.

16. Notifies manufacturing /quality of samples that do not meet specification and requests/performs rests and/or resample.

17. Able to take microbiological samples following GMP procedures. Pack up and ship out the samples for testing.

18. Performs record keeping

19. Prepares standards, solutions and stains.

20. Maintains a neat and orderly workplace.

21. Performs their share of the work load and helps others when needed.

22. Utilizes their time wisely. (follows break schedules and is mindful of non-work related talking)

23. Willingness to learn new jobs/procedures.

24. Treats others with respect and basic manners.

25. Works well with others and as a team.

26. Performs other work as requested by Manufacturing, R&D, Quality, and QC Lab Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have basic lab and math skills.
  • Must be able to perform routine lab tests on greige, raw materials, chemicals and finished products.
  • Must be capable of computer data enter, record keeping, calibrations, charting graphs, making solutions and standards.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/VISUAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This job is conducted in a manufacturing setting and office environment .
  • Work is sedentary in nature along with standing and walking up to 35% of the time. Must have ability to bend, kneel, and reach.
  • Must have good vision.
  • Frequent computer use at workstation, and at times, can be up to 75% of daily duties.
  • Must be able to exert up to 20 - 50 lbs. of force occasionally.
  • Frequently work at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Nosie level is monitored through a hearing conservation program
  • Responsibilities may occasionally require adjusted work schedules and/or weekend hours to meet deadlines

LANGUAGE/COMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Language proficiency to read, write, understand and communicate essential job functions and safety
  • Must have the skill set to create materials and make presentations to professional staff
