Diesel Mechanic – Experienced (DOT) – West Columbia, SC
Job Details
Direct hire, Monday‑Friday, full benefits, hourly rate.
Compensation
Hourly Pay: $32.00‑$34.00 per hour, based on experience.
Overtime paid after 40 hours per week.
Typical work week 40‑50 hours per week.

Work Schedule
Monday‑Friday.
Shift 9:30am‑6:30pm/7:30pm; work until completed. Typically 8‑10 hours per day.
Schedule may change based on business needs; must be flexible.
Responsibilities
Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform preventative and as‑needed maintenance of diesel trucks and electric vehicles.
Operate the mobile service truck and manage truck inventory.
Interpret and follow work orders and technical manuals.
Travel to locations to perform on‑site diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance.
Communicate effectively with management, providing detailed breakdowns of service requirements and costs.
Maintain schedules and document completed preventative maintenance and repairs.
Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems.
Test repaired equipment for proper performance; ensure work meets manufacturer specifications according to FMCSR.
Maintain parts and yard organization to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
Requirements
Minimum 21 years old.
Minimum 2 years of previous technical experience with Class 6‑8 Commercial Trucks, Tractors, and Trailers.
Air Brake Systems Certification.
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot repairs using diagnostic systems.
ASE Certification preferred.
Knowledge of air, electronic, braking, suspension systems, general mechanical operation and/or light body repair.
Familiar with FHWA, FMCSR, and BIT inspections.
High School Diploma or GED (Preferred).
Must be able to lift 70 pounds.
Candidate must provide own tools.
Valid driver’s license may be required, with no suspensions or revocations for moving violations within the past 3 years. No CDL required.
