Company Overview

Amperesand is reinventing how the world powers its most critical systems.

We are facing a once-in-a-generation opportunity for infrastructure disruption. Electricity demand is skyrocketing, driven by AI factories, electric vehicles, and modern industrial growth. Energy supply is shifting to incorporate a more diverse mix of resources – including solar, gas, and batteries – at a massive scale.

And yet the power infrastructure behind our latest mega-projects hasn’t meaningfully changed in nearly 100 years. Supply chains for today’s infrastructure equipment can’t match the pace and sophistication of critical energy projects. Amperesand is building hardware and software that rewrites this broken power infrastructure playbook to support a new era of energy abundance.

We’ve built a new class of intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products leveraging a decade of advanced medium voltage Solid State Transformer research that’s now ready for commercial deployment.

Our products and solutions go far beyond the capabilities of traditional electrical equipment. We make power systems that are faster to deploy, dramatically smaller and more efficient, and capable of supporting modern, dynamic energy needs for tomorrow’s most demanding energy consumers.

Scalable in-house advanced manufacturing capability is our foundation for meeting timeline and quality expectation to serve infrastructure customers around the world.

Amperesand is led by breakthrough energy hardware development veterans and funded by top tier investors who share our vision of building a category-defining energy technology company.

With hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore, our global team is laser focused on building foundational technology to solve the most pressing problems in power infrastructure at scale.

Join us in building the power foundation of the future!

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled, hands-on Equipment Engineer to join our Production Engineering team. This role is focused on operating, sustaining, and optimizing advanced manufacturing equipment and assembly lines.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in at least one core discipline of manufacturing engineering, along with the curiosity and drive to expand beyond it. This role requires critical thinking, fast learning, and direct ownership of equipment performance in a high-paced production environment.

This is a floor-facing, high-impact role. You will work closely with maintenance, controls, and operations teams to keep production lines running, reduce downtime, and continuously improve equipment effectiveness.

Responsibilities

Support production operations across shifts, including remote or onsite escalation response as needed to minimize downtime

Troubleshoot equipment failures quickly and accurately, identifying root causes across electrical, mechanical, controls, and network domains, and implement sustainable corrective actions

Provide hands-on support and mentorship to maintenance technicians during extended downtime situations

Troubleshoot industrial robots used for material handling, assembly, and dispense applications

Diagnose recurring equipment failures and develop mitigation strategies to reduce their frequency, severity, and production impact

Own station-level and line-level OEE metrics, present performance data to engineering and operations stakeholders, and lead continuous improvement efforts to drive measurable gains

Lead equipment upgrades, retrofits, and repairs with a focus on reliability, serviceability, process capability, and design intent

Create, propose, and implement standard operating procedures for equipment within your area of ownership

Identify and execute continuous improvement projects focused on cycle time reduction, yield improvement, and increased equipment utilization

Maintain comprehensive equipment documentation and participate in Engineering Change Management processes

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, or a related field

3+ years of experience in an automated, high-volume manufacturing environment

Demonstrated success improving OEE through structured root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives

Proficiency in structured problem-solving methodologies such as DMAIC, 5 Whys, 8D, or Ishikawa

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings

Experience with data collection and analysis for equipment performance and process development

Ability to lead cross-functional projects and support 24/7 operations during escalations

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Bonus Qualifications
