Role Summary

The Home Equity Loan Officer-Consumer Direct will be the key advisor for customers looking to tap into the equity of their homes to meet their financial needs. You will collaborate directly with consumers via phone, email, and other digital channels, helping them understand the best home equity loan products for their situation.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients to understand their unique financial situations, goals, and concerns. Tailor your approach to align with their specific needs—whether they are looking for a simple loan, home renovation funding, or debt consolidation.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to explain the features and benefits of various home equity loan options (e.g., HELOCs, fixed‑rate loans), ensuring customers make well‑informed decisions based on their individual financial profiles and objectives.
  • Walk customers through the entire loan application process, helping them gather necessary documentation, explaining next steps, and ensuring a smooth, efficient experience from start to finish.
  • Review and analyze customers' financial information, including credit reports, income verification, and property value assessments, to determine loan eligibility. Recommend appropriate loan products based on their unique financial needs and risk profile.
  • Work towards and meet monthly production goals, driving loan closings while delivering exceptional service and understanding of customer needs.
  • Build long‑term relationships with customers by providing exceptional, personalized service. Maintain ongoing contact to follow up on past loans, offer new opportunities, and promote customer loyalty.
  • Utilize digital platforms and CRM tools to manage leads, track applications, and communicate efficiently with clients. Use technology to simplify processes and provide clients with real‑time updates and status reports.
  • Ensure all loan transactions and communications comply with industry regulations, company policies, and fair lending practices. Keep up to date on applicable laws, including privacy and disclosure regulations.
  • Stay up‑to‑date on trends in the home equity loan market, as well as emerging digital tools, to better serve your clients and provide them with the best solutions available.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service, sales, or relationship management experience (mortgage, finance, or real estate).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Tech‑savvy and comfortable learning new systems.
  • Self‑motivated and goal‑oriented, able to manage a pipeline.
  • NMLS State Licensed or willingness and eligibility to obtain one.
  • Prior Home Equity or Mortgage experience preferred.
  • NMLS State License preferred.
  • Knowledge of home equity guidelines, appraisal process, and loan structuring preferred.
  • Working knowledge of industry tools, such as a CRM, POS, and LOS, preferred.
