Role Description The Dispatcher role is a full-time, on-site position based at Twin Lake Trucking’s headquarters in East St. Louis, IL. The Dispatcher coordinates daily freight movements across van/reefer, flatbed, and intermodal divisions, assigning loads to drivers and optimizing routes to meet delivery schedules and service commitments. This role involves monitoring driver locations, updating customers on shipment status, and resolving schedule changes, delays, or exceptions in a timely and professional manner. The Dispatcher communicates regularly with drivers, warehouse staff, and external partners, ensuring compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate records in transportation management systems, supporting load planning, and contributing to continuous improvement of dispatch processes.

Qualifications

• Dispatch, logistics coordination, and route planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple trucks and loads simultaneously.
• Strong communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills to work effectively with drivers, internal teams, and external partners.
• Proficiency with transportation management systems, GPS/telematics platforms, and common office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, and databases).
• Knowledge of over-the-road trucking operations, DOT regulations, hours-of-service rules, and basic HazMat considerations.
• Solid organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to make sound decisions under time pressure.
• Prior experience in trucking dispatch, freight brokerage, or logistics operations preferred; warehousing or crossdocking experience is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in transportation, supply chain, or business is beneficial.
• Ability to work on-site in East St. Louis, IL, with reliable attendance and willingness to support occasional extended or flexible hours as business needs require.
