Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Registered Nurse 3 to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this advanced nursing role, you will provide comprehensive clinical care, oversee nursing activities, and support the coordination of medical services within a secure correctional environment.

Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:
Two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; A bachelor's degree in nursing plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse; A master's degree in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse; A doctorate in nursing or public health.
Provides advanced professional nursing care to offenders, including comprehensive assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and ongoing evaluation of patient conditions in accordance with established nursing standards.
Serves as a clinical leader within the nursing team , guiding and supporting LPNs, RN staff, and other healthcare personnel, ensuring proper delegation of tasks and adherence to facility protocols.
Responds to medical emergencies and urgent situations , performing triage, initiating appropriate interventions, and coordinating care with physicians and other medical staff.
Conducts detailed nursing assessments , documents findings, and communicates significant changes in patient status to providers, contributing to the development and adjustment of individualized care plans.
Assists with and oversees specialized clinics , such as chronic care, mental health, infectious disease, and intake screenings, ensuring continuity of care and compliance with regulatory standards.
Maintains accurate and thorough medical records , ensuring documentation meets legal, regulatory, and departmental requirements.
Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams , including mental health, security, and administrative staff, to promote coordinated, patient-centered care within a secure environment.
Ensures adherence to infection control practices , medication management standards, and safety procedures to maintain a secure and therapeutic healthcare setting.
Provides patient education on health conditions, medications, and self-care practices, promoting wellness and supporting rehabilitation goals.
