Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description
This role supports a heavy industrial manufacturing operation by safely handling, moving, and preparing materials using overhead cranes and manual methods. You will work in a flexible, hands-on position that involves measuring, drilling, cleaning, and staging materials to ensure efficient production flow.
Responsibilities
- Interpret work orders and follow oral instructions to determine which materials or containers need to be moved or delivered.
- Drill materials and clean poles as needed, adapting to a variety of tasks in a flexible, hands-on role.
- Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand in a safe and efficient manner.
- Measure materials to be sent to the burn table with precision, including measurements down to 1/16 of an inch using a tape measure.
- Move product and scrap materials to chip bins and trash containers as needed, keeping the work area organized and clear.
- Operate overhead cranes to handle large industrial materials, ensuring safe lifting, movement, and placement.
- Support general labor and production activities as required, including manual material handling and unloading.
- Follow all safety guidelines and rules, consistently employing safe working habits in a heavy industrial environment.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to ensure materials are available and staged for upcoming work.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including proper storage and handling of tools, equipment, and materials.
Essential Skills
- Proven overhead crane experience in a heavy industrial material handling environment.
- Demonstrated heavy industrial material handling experience, including large and bulky materials.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure, including measurements down to 1/16 of an inch.
- Experience in general labor and production support within a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, carrying, and unloading materials by hand.
- Capability to follow safety guidelines and consistently employ safe working habits.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Machine operation experience preferred, especially for future opportunities after direct hire.
- Experience working with overhead cranes as the primary material handling method rather than forklifts.
- Familiarity with non-climate controlled manufacturing environments.
- Flexibility to perform a wide range of duties, including drilling, cleaning, unloading, and general production support.
- Comfort working with large industrial materials and equipment in a busy production setting.

Work Environment
This position is based in a non-climate controlled manufacturing facility, where temperatures and conditions vary with the seasons. The schedule typically runs Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., supporting full-day production operations. Work involves frequent use of overhead cranes, manual material handling, and general industrial equipment in a busy, heavy-duty setting. You can expect a hands-on environment that requires appropriate industrial attire suitable for a manufacturing floor and adherence to all safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, OK.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
