Critical Systems HVAC Field Technician

Location: Lubbock, TX

Reports to: Service Director/Area Service Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced HVAC Field Technicians with the ability to travel to the customer site to start up, commission, troubleshoot and repair the equipment we represent. This position requires the capability to work independently, and candidates should have strong diagnostic skills. Requires the ability to manage projects for start-up commissioning and coordination of personnel and services. This is a full-time opportunity for an energetic self-starter. An ideal candidate will be customer service oriented and work well with others. The position requires a high level of correspondence with Project Managers, Field Supervisors, Service Coordinators and customers. This position of Field Technician for our Lubbock Service Team is focused on support our equipment sales to data centers.

Fundamental Functions Responsibilities:

Manage projects and processes while working independently and with limited supervision

Coaches and reviews the work of lower-level professionals

Face difficult and sometimes complex opportunities; takes a perspective to provide solutions

Start-up, commission, and support BMS on equipment we represent

Perform factory start-up, commissioning, warranty service on Data Center equipment and systems we represent.

Performs electrical and mechanical inspections on equipment to ensure peak performance

Ability to interpret engineering drawings in reference to layout, location and operation of the system(s)

Represents the company in a positive manner to other trades, contractors and owners

Suggest additional services that are beneficial to customer

Works in a team-based environment to share information and workload while ensuring customer satisfaction

Submits required paperwork to Data Mission Critical Administrator in a timely manner

Must work in a safe manner daily and ensure that all safety measures are always taken

Performs other duties as assigned

Flexibility to work overtime/ weekends, as required

Perform PM tasks of the dedicated equipment on site

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Ability to travel substantially within operational region.

A flexible schedule may be required.

Willingness to work in adverse working conditions

The Required Profile

High School Diploma or equivalent

Must have valid driver’s license with good driving record

Must have current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training plus 5+ years’ experience working as a Service Technician in a commercial environment

Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)

Electrical knowledge required and EPA Certification, Preferred (i.e. HVAC Journeyman, Master license)

Ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), climbing/working at elevated heights, etc.

Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel and must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance requirements of multiple and varied duties
