Role and Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and repair diesel-powered garbage trucks and heavy equipment
- Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, brake service, and tire repairs
- Repair engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other components
- Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records
- Ensure all vehicles meet safety standards and DOT compliance requirements
- Follow maintenance schedules and company safety procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience working with diesel engines and heavy equipment
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues
- Knowledge of hydraulic and brake systems
- Ability to use hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE certifications or willingness to obtain certification
- Previous experience in fleet maintenance or heavy-duty truck repair
- Ability to work evening or overnight shifts as needed
- Interest in advancing into leadership roles
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly pay ranging from $28 to $40 depending on location and experience
