Role and Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair diesel-powered garbage trucks and heavy equipment
• Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, brake service, and tire repairs
• Repair engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other components
• Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records
• Ensure all vehicles meet safety standards and DOT compliance requirements
• Follow maintenance schedules and company safety procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience working with diesel engines and heavy equipment
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues
• Knowledge of hydraulic and brake systems
• Ability to use hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
• Understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE certifications or willingness to obtain certification
• Previous experience in fleet maintenance or heavy-duty truck repair
• Ability to work evening or overnight shifts as needed
• Interest in advancing into leadership roles

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly pay ranging from $28 to $40 depending on location and experience
