Part-Time Recreation Assistant

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking enthusiastic and dependable Recreation Assistants to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through recreational, social, and community-based programs throughout Ocean County. As a Recreation Assistant, you will help facilitate engaging activities that promote independence, confidence, and community inclusion while creating positive experiences for program participants.

Position Details

Employment Type: Part-Time

Schedule: Flexible evening and weekend hours based on program needs

Weekend daytime availability required

Pay Range: $20.70 – $24.70 per hour

Bi-weekly pay schedule

Essential Responsibilities

Assist individuals with disabilities during recreational, social, and community-based activities.

Support and participate in group outings, special events, and recreational programs throughout Ocean County.

Help facilitate activities such as fitness programs, arts and crafts, cooking groups, dances, seasonal events, and community excursions.

Encourage active participation, social engagement, and relationship-building among participants.

Provide supervision and support to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience during all activities.

Transport participants using agency vehicles when required.

Promote community inclusion, independence, and positive social interactions.

Serve as a positive role model while supporting individuals in achieving recreational and social goals.

Work collaboratively with recreation staff and supervisors to ensure successful program implementation.
