## Mortgage Loan Officer — New Orleans Main Poydras Street Branch

This role directs origination of residential mortgage loans from a borrower through a branch network, working on-site at the New Orleans Main Poydras Street location in New Orleans, Louisiana. Positions may be available in other cities within Louisiana.

You should know upfront that this is a commission-based job. Associates in the role have historically earned total compensation averaging $20,000 - $100,000+ per year. Actual compensation will vary based on associate’s location, performance, and production. The position requires tracking of time and is eligible for overtime for hours worked in excess of 40 per week under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

### Day-to-day work and how you’ll contribute

You will complete mortgage applications for submission to loan processing and underwriting, evaluate loan requests, analyze financial data, and determine qualification of collateral and customer credit history. Maintaining contact with the loan customer, communicating progress, and obtaining required documentation are regular parts of the job. You will structure loans to comply with acceptable lending practices and Federal regulations and read surveys and appraisals, taking necessary steps to correct encroachments and violations.

Regions expects Mortgage Loan Officers to develop and execute a detailed marketing/business plan that names potential and existing loan customers, realtors, builders, developers and defines frequency of contact. You will answer customer calls and walk-in customers to discuss loan products and qualification information, make sales calls to develop new business or retain existing business, and cross-sell other bank products and services. Participation in networking through professional, business, and community organizations to promote and market loan products may also occur.

### Requirements and credentials

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • One (1) year of mortgage lending experience with proven mortgage production is required.

Preferences include a Bachelor's degree and prior Mortgage Loan Officer experience. Preferred candidates may have a recent minimum of 1M per month average proven production volume and current mortgage origination experience.

### Skills and competencies we value

You should be knowledgeable of mortgage products, systems, terminology, tax requirements, down payment assistance programs, agency and investor regulations and guidelines. Good organizational skills, the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships, multi-tasking across competing priorities, and meeting tight deadlines are all important. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, sales acumen, and strong written and verbal communication skills are expected.
