Responsibilities
Draw blood samples from patients, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established protocols to ensure safety and accuracy.
Prepare specimens for laboratory testing by correctly labeling and processing samples in a timely manner.
Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient signatures post-venipuncture to ensure specimen identification accuracy.
Maintain detailed records and documentation of blood collection activities in accordance with policies.
Create a professional, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, demonstrating excellent customer service and communication skills.
Follow infection control, safety procedures, and hospital policies to uphold a high standard of care.
Adapt to multiple locations and schedules, including weekends, holidays, and on-call hours, to meet operational needs.
Perform clerical duties such as data entry with precision in a high-volume setting.
Required Skills
Proven phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong communication abilities to interact effectively with patients, staff, and supervisors.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills in fast-paced environments.
Proficiency in keyboard and data entry tasks.
Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license (if applicable).
Additional Skills & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
Phlebotomy certification preferred, especially in California, Nevada, and Washington.
1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections; experience in a Patient Service Center environment is highly preferred.
Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts, with travel between multiple locations.
Ability to demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to safety policies.
