Role Description The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist is a full-time, on-site role located in Chicago Heights, IL. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machines to produce precision parts that meet detailed specifications and quality standards. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting blueprints and work orders, selecting appropriate tools and materials, performing machine setups and offsets, and adjusting programs or tooling as needed. The CNC Machinist inspects finished parts using measuring instruments, documents results, and collaborates with supervisors and quality personnel to resolve machining issues. The role also involves routine machine maintenance, adherence to safety protocols, and continuous improvement of machining processes to support production efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Machine Operation skills, including CNC setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Candidates should possess Machining skills with experience in interpreting technical drawings and working to tight tolerances.
  • Candidates should possess Milling skills and familiarity with related tooling, feeds, and speeds.
  • Candidates should possess Quality Control skills, including the use of calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Candidates should possess experience working with industrial Machinery, along with a commitment to equipment safety and preventive maintenance.
  • Additional beneficial qualifications include prior experience in a manufacturing or metalworking environment, knowledge of CNC programming basics, and understanding of safety regulations.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work in an industrial setting, following all safety procedures.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in machining or CNC operation is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
