Position: FT Long-Term Substitute PreK Teaching Assistant, PT Teaching Assistant

Location: City of Syracuse

Lower School Teaching Assistant Opportunities School Year

Manlius Pebble Hill School (MPH) seeks caring, energetic, and collaborative Teaching Assistants to join our Lower School team for the school year.

We anticipate opportunities for two positions:

  • Full‑Time Long‑Term Substitute PreK Teaching Assistant (approximately September 2026 – January 2027, 7:45 am–3 pm, daily, on school days). This position would pay between $185.00 and $215.00 per day, contingent on experience, and include paid holidays during the employment period.
  • Part‑Time Teaching Assistant in an Upper Elementary classroom (8:00 am–12:00 pm, daily, on school days September 2026–June 2027). This position would pay between $20,420.00 and $23,730.00, contingent on experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the lead classroom teacher to support instruction, classroom management, and student engagement.
  • Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic skills and provide differentiated support.
  • Assist in organizing classroom resources and maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Support students' social‑emotional development and help foster a classroom culture of kindness, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Supervise and support students during transitions, recess, lunch, field trips, assemblies, and other school activities.
  • Communicate professionally and collaboratively with teachers, parents, and colleagues in support of student success.
  • Participate actively in the life of the Lower School and contribute to a dynamic and student‑centered learning community.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required.
  • Prior experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or related setting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to supporting diverse learners and creating an inclusive learning environment.
