About the Role Our client, a highly respected school district in Nashville, Tennessee , is seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Special Education Teacher. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and manage individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities. Provide specialized instruction and support tailored to the unique needs of each student. Collaborate closely with general education teachers, parents, school psychologists, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience. Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. Create and maintain accurate and comprehensive student records, including progress reports and IEP documentation. Manage classroom behavior effectively, fostering a positive and respectful learning environment. Incorporate assistive technology and adaptive materials to support student learning. Stay current with best practices, research, and legal requirements in special education. Participate in team meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities. Advocate for the needs of students with special education requirements within the school community. Requirements Master's degree in Special Education or a related field. Valid state teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education (K-12 or relevant age range). Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in special education. Proven ability to develop and implement effective IEPs and instructional strategies. Strong understanding of child development, learning disabilities, and behavioral interventions. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive environment. Proficiency in using educational technology and assessment tools. Outstanding communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with diverse needs in Nashville, Tennessee . Experience working with specific disabilities (e.g., autism, learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders) is highly preferred.
