We're looking for a Bookkeeper / Payroll Specialist who can do both - and do both well. This is a dual-function position handling bookkeeping and financial reporting for a portfolio of small-business clients, plus processing multi-client payroll on regular cycles. You'll work directly with clients and collaborate closely with our tax team.

Responsibilities

Bookkeeping

Maintain books for multiple small-business clients in QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop)

Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts monthly

Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements for client review

Prepare year-end workpapers for tax return preparation

Communicate directly with clients to gather documents and deliver reports

Payroll

Process weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls for multiple clients

Set up new payroll clients including employee profiles, deductions, and tax elections

File quarterly payroll returns: Form 941, Utah withholding (Form 33H), and related state filings

Handle year-end payroll: W-2s, Form 940, and reconciliation to quarterly filings

Respond to IRS and Utah State Tax Commission payroll notices

Qualifications

Required:

3+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a public accounting or multi-client setting

2+ years of payroll processing experience including quarterly and year-end tax filings

Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and/or Desktop

Working knowledge of federal and Utah payroll tax requirements

Strong attention to detail; ability to juggle multiple client deadlines

Professional communication skills - you'll talk directly with clients

Preferred:

Experience with AccountantsWorld or similar payroll bureau software

Experience in a CPA or EA firm environment

FPC or CPP payroll certification

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business
