Travel: 100% of the time Compensation:
Hourly base pay rate of $32.26 - $48.41/hour (may vary based on location, experience, and skillset). Eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or incentive program.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, and other items.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning, motors, and drivetrain components.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other instruments.
- Road‑test vehicles to verify proper operation.
- Identify problems, determine relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternative solutions using sound judgment.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections.
- Work with and listen to clients to assess needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks and allocate time effectively.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document all work on Repair Orders (“RO”) using a company‑issued iOS device and the proprietary TRAIT application, including pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documents in a timely fashion.
- Work independently, manage daily schedule, and maintain productivity close to standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.
- Communicate with management and support team via email or phone for repair estimate approvals, purchase order numbers, and RO findings notes.
- Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field (alternatives: any level degree/certification beyond HS/GED with 3 years’ experience; or 7 years’ experience).
- Possess a complete set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
- Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
- Obtain 608/609 certification within 18 months.
- Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical; a current valid DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining acceptable in lieu of physical.
- Be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
- Hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license.
