Role and Responsibilities:

As a Home Improvement Delivery Driver with a valid CDL, you will be responsible for ensuring products are delivered safely, promptly, and efficiently while providing excellent customer service. You will also support store operations by managing loads, conducting safety inspections, and communicating with customers during delivery.

  • Provide excellent customer service by engaging with customers throughout the delivery experience.
  • Assess customer needs and assist with locating, loading, and demonstrating products as needed.
  • Clearly convey delivery and inventory information to customers and coordinate with the truck driver when necessary.
  • Plan delivery routes, prepare loading documents, and ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
  • Check product quantities and accuracy against invoices prior to loading shipments.
  • Ensure all loads are properly secured and comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Keep delivery statuses updated using company systems and technology.
  • Unload, install, and test appliances during delivery when required.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections, maintain vehicle cleanliness, and report any maintenance issues.
  • Follow safety guidelines, complete necessary DOT paperwork, and maintain current CDL certification.
  • Report any security concerns and maintain organized, clean work and store areas.
  • Operate store equipment as required based on departmental assignments.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Valid Class A CDL for multi-unit commercial vehicle operation or Class B CDL with air brake endorsement for single-unit vehicles.
  • Possession of a current medical certificate or ability to obtain one upon hiring.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in compliance with company policies.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Compliance with all relevant DOT and CDL regulations.
  • Ability to obtain any required sales-related licenses or registrations as required by law.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of semi-truck driving experience or completion of a certified truck driving program.
  • Six months’ experience in home delivery or retail customer service roles.
  • Three months’ experience operating forklifts or Moffett vehicles for loading and unloading tasks.
