Position: Senior Accountant (St. Louis, MO)
Location: St. Peters
Job Summary
As a Senior Accountant, you will support a multi‑unit organization through general accounting activities, internal controls, and financial reporting and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of General Ledger entries and reconciliations for month‑end closing in an efficient and timely manner.
- Assistance in the preparation and posting of routine accounting entries to General Ledger accounts.
- Preparation of analysis for the Inventory Excess & Obsolescence Reserve and collaboration with Inventory Management to determine reserve adjustments.
- Performing consolidating tasks and assisting with the year‑end financial audit.
- Completion of investigative analysis of accounting records to explain variances from financial statement review and inquiries from field or management personnel.
- Assistance with monthly analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Maintenance and analysis of prepaid and accrual accounts, including recording journal entries, performing reconciliations, and ensuring accuracy and completeness of balances.
- Management of the Fixed Asset process, including the internal requisition process.
- Open lines of communication with internal and external stakeholders, co‑workers and management.
- Preparation of audit requests and assistance to auditors with inquiries.
- Understanding and maintenance of internal planning and control procedures.
- Recommendation of improvements to policies and procedures to strengthen controls, enhance business systems, and improve productivity.
- Completion of special projects ancillary to routine duties.
- Frequent management of multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.

- Problem‑solving – identification and resolution of problems in a timely manner, gathering and analyzing information skillfully, developing alternative solutions, and working well in group problem‑solving situations.
- Technical skills – strong understanding of all accounting functions and related internal controls, ability to handle reasonable problem‑solving tasks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (BA) from a four‑year college or university.
- 5+ years related experience; prior management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- In‑depth knowledge of monthly, quarterly and year‑end financial statements and standard variance analyses.
- Experience with state and local sales and use tax filings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to work with all levels of an organization.
- Acute attention to detail and strong prioritization abilities in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Prior experience in the automotive or service industry preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications; expertise in Excel; experience with Net Suite a plus.
