Job Summary
Federal Alarm Company is seeking a motivated, professional Sales Representative to generate new business, manage inbound leads, build referral relationships, and sell customized security, fire alarm, video surveillance, access control, and monitoring solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who can combine consultative selling with practical field awareness. The successful candidate will meet with homeowners, business owners, property managers, contractors, developers, and other decision-makers to understand their risks, evaluate their needs, and present clear, code-conscious, value-based solutions.
The Sales Representative will be responsible for prospecting, site visits, proposal development, follow-up, pipeline management, and coordination with operations, installation, service, and monitoring teams to ensure a professional customer experience from first contact through installation and ongoing service.
Sales & Business Development
Generate new residential and commercial sales opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, inbound leads, community relationships, contractor relationships, and follow-up activity.
Sell Federal Alarm’s core offerings, including:
- Residential alarm systems
- Commercial security systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Video surveillance and camera systems
- Access control systems
- Remote/mobile system management
- Monitoring services
- Self-install and professionally installed solutions
- Contractor and developer solutions
Conduct customer consultations and site walks to identify needs, risks, system requirements, and opportunities for additional protection.
Prepare and present clear, professional proposals that explain the recommended solution, scope, pricing, installation expectations, monitoring options, and ongoing service value.
Develop relationships with builders, general contractors, electrical contractors, property managers, facility managers, HOAs, small businesses, and local organizations.
Maintain consistent follow-up with prospects, open proposals, lost opportunities, and current customers who may benefit from additional services.
Customer Consultation & Solution Design
Ask thoughtful questions to understand each customer’s property, business operations, security concerns, compliance needs, budget, and desired level of control.
Coordinate with technical staff when system design, fire alarm code requirements, low-voltage infrastructure, or installation complexity requires additional review.
Help customers understand the benefits and limitations of different system options, including intrusion detection, cameras, access control, fire alarm, automation, and mobile management.
Position Federal Alarm as a local, responsive, long-term partner rather than a commodity alarm vendor.
Pipeline & Administrative Management
- Maintain accurate sales activity, lead status, contact information, proposals, notes, and follow-up tasks in the company’s CRM or sales tracking system.
- Meet or exceed assigned goals for sales activity, proposals, close rates, recurring monthly revenue, and total sales volume.
- Provide accurate handoff information to operations and installation teams, including scope, customer expectations, site conditions, timelines, and any special requirements.
- Assist with collections of required paperwork, signed agreements, permits or coordination documents, and customer approvals.
- Track market feedback, competitor activity, common objections, and customer needs to help improve sales messaging and service offerings.
Required Qualifications
- Prior sales experience in security, fire alarm, low-voltage systems, construction, building services, technology, telecom, property services, or a related field preferred.
- Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to identify needs and recommend practical solutions.
- Comfortable meeting customers in homes, businesses, construction environments, and professional office settings.
- Ability to read basic floor plans, site layouts, or construction drawings preferred.
- Strong communication, follow-up, and proposal presentation skills.
- Professional appearance, dependable work habits, and strong customer service mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple leads, proposals, appointments, and deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass any required background check, drug screening, or licensing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling alarm systems, fire alarm systems, video surveillance, access control, monitoring, or low-voltage services.
- Familiarity with residential and commercial security needs.
