Role and Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair diesel-powered waste collection trucks and heavy industrial equipment
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues
  • Perform preventive maintenance including oil changes, brake servicing, and tire replacements
  • Repair engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other critical components
  • Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
  • Ensure all vehicles meet DOT safety standards and compliance requirements
  • Follow company maintenance schedules, safety protocols, and operational procedures
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Required Skills and Experience

  • Hands-on experience with diesel engines and heavy-duty equipment maintenance
  • Strong ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, brake, and drivetrain systems
  • Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety compliance
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASE certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • Experience in fleet maintenance or heavy-duty truck repair
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings or overnights
  • Interest in advancing into lead or supervisory roles

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly pay typically ranges from $28 to $40, based on experience and location
