PURPOSE:
The Door and Trim Carpenter specializes in the installation and finishing of interior and exterior woodwork, baseboards, doors, and other decorative wood features. They ensure precise measurements, high-quality craftsmanship, and professional finishing to enhance the appearance and functionality of residential buildings.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Measure, cut, shape, and install trim materials according to project specifications.
- Install baseboards, crown molding, chair rails, door and window casings, and other finish carpentry components.
- Fit and install interior and exterior doors, hardware, and related fixtures.
- Install cabinets, shelving, mantels, and custom woodwork.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and construction plans.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all work meets building codes, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Repair or replace damaged trim and finish carpentry elements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with contractors, project managers, and other tradespeople to complete projects on schedule.
Work Environment:
- Residential construction sites.
- Indoor and outdoor work settings.
- May require working on ladders, scaffolding, or elevated surfaces.
- Exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
KNOWLEDGEEXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Proven experience in finish carpentry or trim installation.
- Strong knowledge of woodworking techniques, materials, and tools.
- Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in various environments.
- Valid driver's license may be required.
