Job Overview
Jensen Hughes is seeking a Lead Consultant to join our team in San Diego, Anaheim, or Los Angeles. This role offers the opportunity to support innovative projects within the energy storage and advanced manufacturing sectors while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across the organization.
Work may take place in a hybrid environment, including office locations, client sites, and remote settings, depending on project and business needs. The successful candidate will contribute to the growth and delivery of engineering consulting services related to energy storage systems, with support and resources available to foster professional development, technical leadership, and business growth.
Responsibilities
Lead and support energy storage system safety projects across a variety of industries and applications
Manage projects involving lithium-ion battery manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, and related technologies
Mentor, train, and support team members and new hires through knowledge sharing and technical guidance
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of internal tools, processes, and methodologies
Review and interpret testing and engineering reports, including thermal runaway testing such as UL 9540A, to support facility safety strategies and mitigation concepts
Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to develop practical, risk-informed safety solutions
Support business development initiatives by building strong client relationships and identifying opportunities for growth
Collaborate with leadership to execute strategic initiatives and expand service offerings
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Safety Management, or a related technical field
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in industrial safety, process safety, energy storage systems, or related industries
Professional Engineer (P.E.), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or similar certification is preferred but not required
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to a variety of audiences
Demonstrated experience managing industrial or process safety projects within energy storage, battery manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, or related technical environments
Preferred Areas of Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is beneficial, though candidates are not expected to have expertise in every area:
Energy storage safety standards and applications (e.g., NFPA 855)
Emergency preparedness and response planning
Hazard mitigation and risk analysis
Electrical safety
Fire protection and fire safety engineering
Explosion prevention and control systems
Risk assessments and modeling methodologies, including bowtie analysis
Engineering simulation and consequence modeling tools such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element analysis (FEA), fire and smoke modeling, or plume modeling
Additional Information
Occasional travel may be required, up to approximately 25%
