Community of Hope is seeking a part‑time Dental Assistant to provide high‑quality four‑handed chairside care at our Conway Health and Resource Center in SW Washington, DC.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide quality four‑handed chairside assistance during restorative, endodontic, periodontic, prosthodontic, and oral surgery procedures.
  • Review daily records and enter medical history, vital signs, and patient consent into the dental electronic medical record.
  • Serve as a daily patient advocate, ensuring comfort before, during, and after treatment.
  • Takes dental X‑rays and completes charting as instructed by the dentist.
  • Promote and maintain OSHA infection control standards.
  • Perform daily chart reviews to ensure accurate, timely workflow.
  • Ensure the dentist has complete set‑ups (armamentarium) prior to treatment.
  • Provide oral health education, including nutritional counseling and brushing/flossing techniques, and post‑treatment instructions.
  • Perform office management tasks such as front‑desk coverage, scheduling, and answering phones as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

Must‑Haves

  • Current, unencumbered D.C. Dental Assisting License, Level II.
  • Diploma/Certification from an accredited dental assisting program.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Availability to work weekends or evenings as needed.
  • Ability to travel to other COH sites as required.
  • Participation in appropriate continuing dental education courses.
  • Proof of vaccinations (reasonable accommodation for religious or medical reasons possible).

Nice‑to‑Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of eClinical Works and Open Dental.
  • Commitment to working with underserved populations.
  • Strong customer service skills.
