We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Plate Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating CNC (Computer Numerical Control) laser cutting machines to precisely cut sheet metal and other materials according to detailed blueprints and specifications. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality fabrication, efficient production workflows, and adherence to safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency in CNC programming, and experience with various fabrication tools and measuring instruments. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to complex manufacturing projects in a dynamic environment.
Duties
- Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines, ensuring accurate and efficient processing of sheet metal components.
- Read and interpret technical blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine cutting parameters.
- Program CNC laser machines using appropriate software, adjusting settings for optimal performance.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laser equipment to maintain precision and safety standards.
- Utilize hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments for quality inspection of finished parts.
- Manage material handling equipment such as forklifts and cranes to load raw materials and unload finished products safely.
- Collaborate with fabrication teams to ensure proper tooling setup, sheet metal handling, and assembly processes.
- Conduct quality inspections throughout production runs, verifying dimensions with precision measuring instruments.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols related to electrical discharge machining, plasma cutting, welding, and other fabrication processes.
- Troubleshoot machine issues promptly to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating CNC laser cutting machines within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of CNC programming, blueprint reading, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with various fabrication techniques including plasma cutting, welding, stamping presses, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, press brake machines, and electrical discharge machining.
- Ability to use hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments accurately.
- Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements.
- Knowledge of sheet metal properties and fabrication processes.
- Experience with quality inspection procedures to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment including forklifts and cranes safely.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
