JOB SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this position is to prepare food in accordance with prescribed resident diet specifications to ensure optimum food quality service. We are looking for someone who is energetic and willing to become part of our team. The ideal candidate would have cooking experience in a healthcare setting and someone who takes pride in the taste and quality of the food they make.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1-year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred, but not required
  • Must be able to stand most of the shift, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
  • Prepare and serve tasteful meals in accordance with planned menus, diet plans, recipes, and facility procedures.
  • Good math skills required, must be able to scale recipes
  • Record food temperatures for the meals.
  • Prepare pureed foods
  • Complete in-advance preparation requirement for next day of service.
  • Records food temps, refrigerator and freezer temps
  • Proper food handling, labeling with dates, and storage of all food items using the F.I.F.O. (First In, First Out) system
  • Emptying of waste containers.
  • Cleans, washes, and sanitizes dishes, flatware, and utensils used to serve patients and others.
  • Attend staff and in-service meetings.
  • Inventory stocking and storage organization.
  • Maintain an inspection-ready work area on a consistent basis
  • Use of proper sanitation and infection control measures.
  • Adhere to Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information related to the proper and safe use of chemicals in the workplace. Store chemicals and cleaning supplies away from food production areas.
  • Report resident care concerns and potential issues to Administrator
  • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned
  • Must be ServSafe Food Handlers Certified
  • Must be pleasant, respectful and courteous to residents, families, visitors and fellow employees at all times.
  • Ability to follow oral and written communications.

Pay: From $21.00 per hour
