Job Summary

Charge Nurse position at an inpatient rehabilitation hospital located in Madison, Wisconsin. The role involves overseeing nursing care on a unit that serves adult patients with high-acuity needs. The position requires leadership skills and experience in a skilled nursing or inpatient rehabilitation environment, with responsibilities including clinical oversight and team coordination during night shifts.

Job Details

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with coverage every other weekend and holiday rotations.
  • Required Qualifications: 1+ year of nursing experience in skilled nursing or other 24/7 skilled care environment; current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; must have managerial and Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience; excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Med-Surg or inpatient rehabilitation experience related to patient acuity; experience with high-acuity patient populations or previous charge nurse roles.
  • Additional Information: The inpatient rehab hospital functions similarly to a medical-surgical unit with high-acuity patients. Nurses are expected to assist CNAs and respond to patient call lights for safety. Orientation sessions will be held starting January 6, 2026, with additional dates scheduled throughout the year. The unit is equipped with ceiling lifts, Sara Stedy and Sara Plus Plus, slide boards, vital sign machines, EKG equipment, and computer charting systems. Minor floatation to satellite inpatient rehab facilities may be required in the future, located within 20 minutes of the primary site.
