Night Loader - Warehouse Associate

Hourly non-exempt

Regular Schedule & Shift: Monday - Friday; Night shift, 4:30pm-1:00, OT as necessary.

Regular Weekly Hours: Full-time/40 hours per week (overtime as needed)

Management Position: No

Our Night Loaders are responsible for organizing the loading dock and loading OrePac trucks with customer orders per route sequence in a safe and efficient manner. This is a labor-intensive position that requires heavy lifting. Individuals are regularly on their feet throughout their shift and may work at heights as required.   • Operate powered industrial equipment such as forklifts or combilifts to manipulate and move product.

Take inventory of all materials to be loaded and ensure that the product is accurately and safely staged and secured and appropriately shrink-wrapped or wrapped for protection. Determine appropriate loading configuration, taking into account stop order, product mix, and routing to ensure maximum cube utilization.

Load product onto trailer and safely and properly secure it to prevent shifting during transport and to prohibit damage in transit.

May complete replenishment of product as needed and as time permits.

Forklift duties may be assigned to this position. Any assigned forklift duties will first require taking and passing a forklift training course and obtaining a certificate. Forklift duties will include staging and/or stacking material neatly and safely, operating the forklift in a safe manner, filling the forklift with propane fuel, and regularly checking the forklift fluid levels.

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.

Ability to adhere to all facets of safety policies and procedures, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated by OrePac’s safety program. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment within a team or individually with minimal supervision while achieving quality and timely completion of assigned tasks to achieve customer satisfaction.

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

  • 1 or more years of experience in a warehouse environment (preferred).
  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be accepted in place of the education and/or experience requirements listed for this role.

Regularly steer, reach, and handle dunnage if forklift operation duties are assigned to the position.

Report all incidents and accidents to one’s immediate supervisor within 24 hours.

Comply with company drug testing policies and procedures.
