Job Title: Quality Control Inspector
Job Description
The Quality Control Inspector ensures that welded and fabricated products meet established quality standards and specifications. This role combines hands-on TIG welding and fitting knowledge with thorough inspection practices to identify weld defects, verify compliance with drawings and weld maps, and support continuous improvement on the production floor.
Responsibilities
- Inspect welded and fabricated components to verify they meet quality standards, specifications, and applicable procedures.
- Perform detailed visual inspections of welds to identify defects such as porosity, cracks, undercut, lack of fusion, and other discontinuities.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to confirm that parts are produced to the correct dimensions and tolerances.
- Complete weld maps accurately, documenting weld locations, parameters, and inspection results in a clear and traceable manner.
- Provide constructive feedback to welders who need assistance or are struggling to meet quality requirements, helping them improve their technique and adherence to standards.
- Recommend appropriate repair methods for weld defects and follow up to ensure rework meets quality expectations.
- Support production and quality control processes by conducting in-process and final inspections as required.
- Collaborate with fabrication, welding, and production teams to address quality issues and prevent recurring defects.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation to support traceability and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to a culture of quality assurance by promoting best practices in welding, fitting, and inspection.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience with TIG welding and fitting in a fabrication or production environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Hands-on experience performing visual inspection and quality checks on welded and fabricated components.
- Working knowledge of weld defects and their causes, with the ability to identify and classify them accurately.
- Ability to suggest appropriate weld repair methods based on defect type and quality requirements.
- Experience completing weld maps and related quality control documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experienced in fabrication, welding, and production processes.
- Solid understanding of quality control and quality assurance principles in a manufacturing or production setting.
- Effective communication skills to provide clear, constructive feedback to welders and production staff.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a fabrication or welding shop environment.
- Familiarity with production workflows and the interaction between fabrication, welding, and quality control.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
