Pharmacy Technician

Position Overview
Unity Urgent Care & Pharmacy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our growing healthcare team. This role supports pharmacy operations while collaborating closely with urgent care providers, nursing staff, and administrative personnel to deliver exceptional patient care.

Primary ResponsibilitiesPharmacy Services
- Prepare and dispense prescription medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Accurately enter prescription information into the pharmacy management system.
- Process prescription refills, transfers, prior authorizations, and insurance claims.
- Assist with medication packaging, labeling, and dispensing activities.
- Monitor medication inventory, expiration dates, and stock levels.
- Receive, organize, and restock pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and medical supplies.
- Maintain accurate records for controlled substances and assist with regulatory compliance.
- Support non-sterile compounding activities when applicable and permitted by state regulations.
- Ensure adherence to all Ohio Board of Pharmacy, DEA, HIPAA, and company policies.
Patient Care & Customer Service
- Welcome patients and provide professional assistance with prescription drop-off and pick-up.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and prescription details.
- Communicate prescription status updates and coordinate medication-related inquiries.
- Facilitate medication adherence programs, refill reminders, and patient follow-up initiatives.
- Direct clinical questions to the pharmacist and assist in maintaining an exceptional patient experience.
Billing & Administrative Support
- Process third-party insurance claims and troubleshoot claim rejections.
- Collect co-payments and maintain accurate payment records.
- Assist with prior authorization requests and reimbursement documentation.
- Maintain organized records to support audits, inspections, and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with billing and administrative teams to ensure accurate claim submission and reimbursement.
Clinical & Operational Collaboration
- Coordinate with urgent care providers regarding medication availability and treatment needs.
- Support clinic operations involving vaccinations, injectable medications, infusion therapies, and other patient care services.
- Assist with pharmacy-related workflows that support urgent care and infusion patients.
- Provide operational support to front desk and clinical teams as needed to ensure efficient patient flow.
QualificationsRequired
- Active Ohio Pharmacy Technician Registration or Pharmacy Technician Trainee License.
- Strong knowledge of prescription processing and pharmacy operations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency with pharmacy software and electronic health record systems.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Preferred
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB or NHA.
- Previous experience in retail, hospital, specialty, or urgent care pharmacy settings.
- Experience with medication adherence packaging and delivery services.
- Bilingual skills (Arabic or Spanish preferred).
- Familiarity with insurance billing, prior authorizations, and healthcare workflows.
Work Environment
- Day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.
- May provide support across pharmacy, urgent care, infusion, and wellness operations.
- Requires standing, walking, lifting medication inventory, and frequent interaction with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Must comply with all OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and workplace safety standards.
